Spring in Wisconsin always feels like a fresh start. This maternity session at Whitnall Park in Milwaukee was such a beautiful reminder of that, with this family of four soaking in this season of life before welcoming their newest little one.

When Kids Have Off Days (And That’s Okay)

Going into this session, everything felt like it was lining up perfectly. But like any session with little ones, things don’t always go exactly as planned.

Their youngest was having a bit of an off day, and honestly, that is completely normal. Kids have big feelings, unpredictable moods, and moments where they just are not into it, and that is okay.

As a mom myself, I fully understand that sometimes you show up and your kid just is not having it. That does not mean the session is ruined. You never need to stress about your kids “behaving” during our time together.

Making the Most of Every Moment

Instead of forcing anything, we leaned into it.

We slowed things down, gave space when it was needed, and focused on helping their youngest feel as comfortable as possible. There were moments of cuddling, little breaks, and just candid interaction that ended up being some of the best parts of the session.

And even with an off day, we still created the most beautiful images of mom, the family together, and this season they are in.

Real Life is What Matters Most

This session is such a good reminder that your photos do not need to be perfect to be meaningful.

Kids will be kids. Some days are easier than others. And honestly, that is part of parenting.

My goal as your family photographer is never to force smiles or create something that feels unnatural. I am here to photograph your family as you are despite whatever chaos that brings to the table.
