A Mommy and Me Session at Frame Park Formal Gardens in Waukesha

As soon as the temperatures in Wisconsin start peeking above 60 degrees, then you know it’s almost time for those gorgeous flowers to start blooming! Last year in early spring, I met with Melissa and her kiddos Harper and Archie in Waukesha, Wisconsin to capture some cute mommy and me photos of them together.

Melissa and I both had a vision of meeting at Frame Park Formal Gardens so we could take advantage of all the beautiful flowers they had blooming there, so that’s exactly what we did.

When they arrived, it was actually surprisingly hot outside despite it only being spring. Even with a little sweat, we managed to get some absolutely adorable photos of Melissa with the kids with the flowers in the gardens.

Toddler Energy and Candid Moments

I have to say, Melissa and I definitely had our hands full trying to get Harper and Archie in the same photo at the same time. Harper, being a toddler, wanted to run, explore, and play, which is exactly what I love about sessions like this.

We did want a few images of all three of them together, so I stepped in with simple prompts to keep Harper engaged but present in the frame with mom and baby brother. Fun and playful prompts are the exact reason why you don’t need to stress about your kids behaving during family photos with me!

Harper ran to mommy for hugs, gave baby brother sweet kisses on the cheek, ran around in circles, and even stopped to smell all the pretty flowers. Those moments made for some of the best photos in the entire gallery and ended up being some of Melissa’s favorites as well.

This spring mommy and me session in Waukesha, Wisconsin is exactly why I love photographing families. Even when your toddlers only goal is to run laps around us, I always manage to wrangle them in for some full family photos with fun prompts & cues. And that’s honestly the best part.
