Not every family photo session has to be perfectly posed or take place in a picture-perfect location. Sometimes, the most meaningful photos come from the moments that feel the most real.
For this sweet session, I had the honor of photographing a wonderful mom and her two kids right in their home in Kewaskum, Wisconsin. Instead of planning a formal, outdoor shoot or dressing up in coordinated outfits, they decided to do something they love — baking banana cupcakes together.
From the laughter as flour filled the air to the quiet, tender moments while mixing batter side-by-side, every image told a story of connection, love, and everyday joy. These photos are a reminder that the simple things — like baking, cooking, or spending time together — are often the moments that mean the most.

The Beauty of At-Home Lifestyle Sessions
I always tell my clients that you don’t need a magazine-ready home or matching outfits to create beautiful photos. In fact, staying in your own space often helps everyone feel more relaxed and comfortable. Whether it’s a cozy kitchen, a living room full of toys, or a favorite corner by the window — those are the places where your family’s real life happens, and that’s what makes them special.
For this Kewaskum lifestyle family session, we worked with what we had — a warm, naturally lit home and a family doing what they love. I came a little early to help tidy up, move a few things around, and make sure everything was ready for our photos. You’d be surprised how even a small adjustment, like shifting furniture slightly or finding the best light, can completely transform your space for photos.
And if you’re worried about your home not being “photo-ready,” please don’t be! Almost nobody’s house is perfect, and that’s completely okay. My goal as your photographer is to make the process easy, enjoyable, and authentic to you.

Perfect for Winter and the Holidays
As the weather starts to cool down here in Wisconsin, in-home sessions are such a great option for families who don’t want to brave the cold or rent a studio space. These sessions are perfect for cozy winter days — maybe you’re baking cookies, decorating the Christmas tree, or making hot cocoa together.
Lifestyle sessions like this allow you to slow down, spend meaningful time with your loved ones, and capture those genuine interactions that you’ll treasure for years to come.
If you’re located in Kewaskum, West Bend, Menomonee Falls, Germantown, Sussex, Brookfield, or the surrounding areas, I’d love to help you plan an in-home lifestyle session that reflects your family just as you are — full of love, laughter, and connection.
